FALL LITURGY GUILD SCHEDULE
1ST & 3RD WEDNESDAYS, 7PM

All Saints  - Nov 1st
We will meet in October to plan All Saints. The custom of commemorating all of the saints of the church on a single day goes back at least to the third century. All Saints Day celebrates the people of God, living and dead, who make up the body of Christ. On this day or the following Sunday, many congregations will remember the faithful who have died during the past year.

Meeting Dates: Oct 7 & Oct 21

The Season of Advent - Nov 29 - Dec 20
We will meet in November to plan the season of Advent. Advent is about the “coming days.” God’s people have always lived in great expectation, but that expectation finds specific, repeated enunciation in the texts appointed for these four weeks. The ancients anticipated a “righteous Branch to spring up for David.” The Thessalonians awaited “the coming of our Lord Jesus with all the saints.” Our Lord’s contemporaries hoped for the time “to stand before the Son of Man.” With them we eagerly await the coming days: another Christmas celebration, a second coming, and the advent of our Lord in word and supper.

Meeting Dates: Nov 4, Nov 18, Nov 25 (extra planning day)
COMMUNITY NEWS & EVENTS
VESPERS - WED, OCT 07, 6:30PM
@ GEORGE: CENTER FOR COMMUNITY
(2212 NE 125th St / 98125 - Lake City)

Vespers is the ancient practice of praying at the setting of the sun. Our adaptation attempts to create space in the middle of the week to recenter ourselves and reconnect to the source that gives us life, meaning, and purpose. Regardless of religious preference or belief in the divine, you are welcome here.

Our October gathering will commemorate the life of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and ecology, who left a life of luxury to pursue a life devoted more fully to God and the poor. We will reflect on his life and words, and examine how we might follow his example more closely.
