Senai’s Ministry Update:

Senai is getting more involved in local ministries here in South Africa. In our role as consultant, Senai has had the privilege of serving as International Director of Strategy for Samaritan’s Feet SA and building a model, which will be used across the globe. So far, since we arrived in January 2015, Samaritan’s Feet South Africa has served over 4000 children and families with the message of hope and a new pair of shoes. It has been very rewarding to see the growth that has taken place in their program this year.

Another amazing opportunity Senai has had is to serve with our Korean friends, the Moon family. They have planted a church in a township in nearby Franschhoek, South Africa. I was able to preach there, while our 5 girls led worship, and Janna helped with Sunday School and prayed with the women leaders. It was such an honor to serve as a family and support the meaningful work Christ is doing through this “house church”. This township sits next to the village of Franschhoek, one of the wealthiest towns in South Africa.  The contrast of poverty and wealth couldn’t be more stark. Alcohol is a huge problem in the community.  We ask you to pray that people will be released from the bondage of alcohol and embrace the redeeming grace that God offers.

In three weeks, we will be connecting the church plant with Samaritan’s Feet SA and serving each of the members of this church by washing their feet and providing them with a new pair of shoes.  This is what Senai is all about!  It is an honor to “connect people to purpose” and amplify the vision and mission of the Moon's church plant.

Another group of ministries that Senai has connected with in the last nine months is SCAS (Sport for Christ Action SA), Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Kingdom DNA.  For two months our family hosted a group of 7 young American interns each week, sharing a glimpse of what it’s like to raise a family while doing ministry in a foreign country.  We invited the entire group of 45 interns to our house for a 4th of July party, as they got ready to return to the USA. It was exciting to see their energy and help answer their questions as many consider answering the call to missions in their future.

Recently we have built a relationship with the Barwicks, a young couple in South Africa who work with Yebo Life.  They told us they look to us as the “older, experienced ones”.  That was a bit of a shock, but we are excited to mentor and share with them what we have learned.  Tony and Julie Barwick want to serve the people in the townships of South Africa and connect those they know in America with their mission. Senai and Yebo Life have a lot in common, and we look forward to working alongside them in the future.

Off to Ethiopia

"Ride For A Purpose" is finally here!  In one week I will be traveling to Ethiopia from South Africa and meeting up with three Americans flying in from the USA.  We will be riding off-road motorcycles around Southern Ethiopia to check on some of Senai’s ministry partners: Hanna's Orphan Home, Water Is Life well-drilling, and Harding Bible School. We will also be exploring remote areas of the country where Senai can expand its footprint.

Many of you have had an integral part in these ministries through your gifts and your prayers, and we are SO grateful!  This trip will highlight the people and communities you have impacted.  While visiting with these individuals and projects, we plan to shoot video and do interviews. We are looking forward to sharing them with you.

Please stay engaged - follow our trip on Facebook.  Senai will send a formal update via email when the trip is over, but we will be doing live updates on Facebook each day of the trip!  Keep us in your prayers as we traverse the wild roads and pathways of Ethiopia.

We are still in epic fundraising mode, raising funds for these particular ministries! The funds will go toward digging a new water well, building a dorm for the Harding Bible School, and raising capital for the Orphan Home’s new compound. Please consider sending a one-time gift to help us hit our goal of $17,000.  We are currently at $6,950!  Online Fundraiser Link

Our Visa Saga

We are STILL waiting for our family’s 3-Year visas to come through!  What a journey of patience and perseverance.  I have been able to talk with government officials to get permission for my October trip out of South Africa, but it has not been easy!  There are still many question marks. Please pray that we will be able to continue serving in South Africa without bureaucratic delays.  We truly need God to intervene on our behalf.

Support Update

As you think through your year-end giving, would you consider a gift to Senai?  Or would you consider supporting our family financially each month through Senai?  There is never an easy way to ask, but your partnership, prayers, and support amplifies the impact we are able to have across the continent of Africa.  We really need some additional consistent supporters.  Please pray about it and join us in this journey.
