Your Guide to Getting to and Around at the #2015Parliament
Dear Parliament Participant,

The Parliament is very near and we wanted to share some information covering basic needs during your stay in Salt Lake City:
  • Airport Arrival
  • Transportation and Parking
  • Accessibility options (Renting wheelchairs and scooters)
  • Food Options and Restaurants
  • Check-in and Registration Times
  • Preparing for the Utah Climate
  • Accessing the 2015 Parliament Program

AIRPORT ARRIVAL

During peak travel hours Wednesday through Saturday look for friendly volunteers holding Parliament signs at the airport terminals – near baggage claim – to greet you when you first arrive in Salt Lake City. They will direct you to the Parliament Info Counter where they will answer any questions you have about getting from the airport to your next destination.

TRANSPORTATION

UTA TRAX, our public transportation, is a very convenient way to get from the airport into the downtown area. By visiting rideuta.com you can access tools and maps to help make your way around Salt Lake City.

Here is an example:

Additionally, there are multiple taxi cab services at the airport that are easily located by signs or by asking one of our Parliament volunteers located at the airport. The fare for a taxi from the airport to downtown Salt Lake City should cost between $20 and $25.

Private shuttle companies are available, as well as Lyft and Uber services (for those with smartphones).

GETTING TO THE SALT PALACE CONVENTION CENTER

The address of the Salt Palace Convention Center is:

FOOD OPTIONS & RESTAURANTS

As part of Sikh tradition, the Sikh Community is providing Langar, a delicious vegetarian meal, every day of the conference between the hours of 11:30 a.m- 2:30 p.m.

This beautiful act of service will be one to remember and is free to every participant of the Parliament.

Also, there will be food vendors in "the Gathering Place" that will be kosher, halal and vegan. And throughout the conference center, food kiosks will be set up to sell light meals, snacks and beverages.

Within walking distance of the Salt Palace are several restaurants and eateries. For those with special dietary requirements, we have noted the following restaurants that cater to halal, kosher or vegetarian needs:

PREPARING FOR UTAH'S CLIMATE

While you are in Utah, we recommend that you drink lots of water, breath deeply, and move slowly or rest often, espicially if you are feeling out of breath. Due to the high elevation in Salt Lake City, some find they feel differently and it is important to pace yourself and stay hydrated.

MEN WELCOME TO ATTEND THE WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY

There have been a number of male participants expressing an interest in attending the Inaugural Women's Assembly on October 15 and we would like all men to feel welcomed and encouraged to come. If particular programming is exclusive to women, those details will be made available and easy to follow during the proceedings of the day. We are so grateful that there is such an appeal for men to share in this incredible experience and that the interfaith movement is filled with so many #HeforShe guys!

DOWNLOAD THE PARLIAMENT APP & VIEW ONLINE

We understand that some attending the Parliament have a limited capacity to use or procure smartphone or tablets. While the Parliament app is the best resource for program and other information, as well as the best connectivity tool between participants, some would like to view the program in analog. A 368-page program went to press detailing the programming as current as mid-September, 2015.

There will be some alterations to room locations, time of programs, with some new additions before the Parliament opens. It is important that you are connected to the app to scan for programs by most current date/time, track or topic, as well as by speaker listing. You will be informed when the PDF of the program book is made downloadable and accessible through the Parliament website before our event opens.

In the meantime, you may visit crowd.cc/2015Parliament to scroll through programs on your computer, or visit these app stores on your smartphone or tablet to download the 2015 Parliament app:

Of course, these are just a few of the offerings of Salt Lake City, but we hope this provides you with a few tools to get you started. We are so excited to see you just a couple weeks from now!

In Peace,
Parliament Staff
