Alternative validation methods for Symantec SSL DV
An essential part of the validation process for any SSL certificate order is the domain validation: completely automated, the certificate authority checks if the SSL order indeed originates from the domain responsible. Normally this validation is done by sending an e-mail to a domain-bound contact, requiring an affirmative response. Openprovider has now extended the validation options.

Blog post: Universal Acceptance
Early on this year, being in the middle of our regular ICANN contractual compliance audit, we received an e-mail from ICANN: “New gTLD registrations – quote requested”. Was this some kind of trick to secretly perform some audit tasks, for example on registrar pricing? No, on the contrary! ICANN had selected Openprovider for support in their Universal Acceptance studies.

Extended IDN support for .global
.global has announced that from November 1st they will extend their IDN support. To this day .global supports German, Swedish, Polish and Spanish. However from November 1st the registry will support registrations on the second level for many more Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs).
