The LBG hosted the 20th annual Dwight Burnham Memorial Brewfest on Sept. 26 at Clinton Lake. The day included music, barbecue by KB Smokehouse and more than 90 beers on tap. “Foster’s Entire Butt,” a Dwight Burnham recipe brewed during a guild social brew day, was on tap throughout the day. Read Jeff Jensen's description of the beer hereSee our website or Facebook page for more photos from the event.
The LBG met Sept. 10 for its monthly meeting. Vice President James Taylor led the seminar on RIMS vs. HERMS. Biermeister Chris Stenger led the tasting on fruit beers. Miss the meeting? Read the minutes here. See our website or Facebook page for more photos from the meeting.
The Greater Topeka Hall of Foamers club is hosting its second annual homebrew competition -- Brew Bash -- Oct. 31. Entries are being accepted through Oct. 25. Check out their website for all the details.
Huge thank you to all who helped make Brewfest great! I can't list everyone, but I especially want to thank the committee heads -- Dale Wheeler, Ken Godwin, Frank Dillon and Steve Brown -- for going above and beyond, Jason Souter for his great work on the shrimp boil and the many partners who donate to our cause in one way or another. There's a reason this event is still going strong after 20 years. The beer is great, but the people are better. Here's to 20 more years and beyond!

Matt Parker and I met this week to go over Brewfest financials. We'll be covering "Brewfest by the Numbers" at the October meeting. This will be a general overview (yes, there are charts), but if anyone would like more specific financial details on a certain aspect of Brewfest, we're happy to provide those. Be thinking about it, and let us know what questions you have. Overall, we did well in terms of raising a good amount of money to officially start our emergency fund (more on that later).

Now that Brewfest is over, we're moving forward with trying to schedule a day for a women's brew. I've had several people talk to me and a few post on the thread. If that's something that interests you, please post here or talk to me directly.

Looking forward to seeing you Oct. 8! Cheers! — Jenalea
