Freshman Research Initiative

New Course-Based Freshmen Research Opportunities Starting Spring 2016
The Freshman Research Initiative (FRI) at ISU introduces freshman undergraduates to authentic research in the fields of astronomy, electrical and computer engineering, geology, molecular biology, genetics and physics. Streams of 15-20 students in introductory classes are co-opted into faculty members' research programs where students design their own experiments for course credit. These course-based research projects have the potential to reach more students than traditional one-on-one mentoring. For more information, visit https://fri.las.iastate.edu or contact Dr. Elizabeth Sandquist at esandq@iastate.edu

It's almost Homecoming!

Make sure you:
  • study the schedule online
  • buy your Homecoming button so you can eat on campus all week for $5
  • sign up for the 5K Homecoming Glow Run on the 24th
  • participate in the CY Factor talent show on October 27
  • make plans for all the Friday night stuff: the pep rally at the Alumni Center featuring Yell Like Hell finalists, and Cyclone Athletics, ExCYtement in the Streets in Greekland, pancakes on central campus from 10:00pm-midnight, followed by mass campaniling!
  • have your Cyclone gear all ready to go for Saturday's Homecoming game vs. Texas
