Don't miss tomorrow's
"Open Forum"

October 20, 2015     2pm Eastern Time

Join us to nurture the network, and explore the joys and struggles of offering Lifelong Learning Opportunities to church leaders.

Planning continuing education events can be a lonely job. Most of us are part-time; most of us are the only person in our local institution doing this kind of work. It can feel like we're in a vacuum. This Open Forum will be an opportunity to connect with others who share the work. We'll explore the changing needs of the church's leadership in our time, and share what's working and what's not. Hear what your colleagues are doing to equip the church's leaders; share your doubts and your successes. Together let's talk about the emerging needs of the denominations we serve, and seek tools to help our churches engage the ministry that God has set before us.

This Forum will be facilitated by members of the ALLLM Leadership Team.

We're offering this Open Forum because participants at last Spring's Annual Meeting so enjoyed meeting together in this way. Here are some of the comments from that meeting:
  • Marilyn: "I think online meeting is brilliant - so much cheaper and time-effective"
  • Richard: "Want to affirm this type of meeting and encourage we do this more often!"
  • Steve: "Even though I'm not going to be in an official leadership capacity, I plan to continue participating in the conversation."

Strategies for Digital Storytellers

with Kimberly Knight
Tuesday Nov. 17 2pm ET

Social media is not about technology, it is about people. As church leaders, our digital efforts should be invested in connecting with community not marketing church. Writing for the web is not like writing a sermon, not like writing a research paper and most certainly not like writing a report for a church council. If everything we write, post or tweet echoes with our own voices, it can help build and strengthen relationships with the many different people who make up our communities.

In this session Kimberly Knight will explore authentic and engaging writing styles for blog posts, email newsletters and social media posts. She will also share digital strategies that have been the guiding light for her digital footprint.

Kimberly Knight is the Director of Digital Strategy at Agnes Scott College, the Minister of Digital Communities for Extravagance UCC and a popular blogger with Patheos.com. Knight’s article “Sacred Space in Cyber Space” which first appeared in Reflections, a journal of Yale Divinity School, was quoted extensively in Church in The Inventive Age by Doug Pagitt. A graduate of Candler School of Theology, Knight is a social media coach, marketing consultant, online organizer and technology specialist with a passion and deep commitment to online ministry.
