Changes to the Nature Conservation Act
QPWS have provided NPAQ with a briefing on proposed changes to the Nature Conservation Act, which will be further detailed at the Ministerial Environment Roundtable in Brisbane next week. 

Several changes relate to reinstating the Cardinal Principle, and select protected area tenures.

Meeting with Stephen Bennett MP
NPAQ has met with the opposition spokesperson for national parks to discuss concerns relating to grazing on park, commercial and recreational proposals, park management, and new protected area acquisitions.

Nature Refuges pass 4m hectare mark
Nature refuges in Queensland now total more than 4 million hectares with the declaration of 11 new nature refuges on 8 October 2015 by Environment Minister Dr Steven Miles. 

Nature Refuges are now almost half the size of the national park estate in Queensland.
