A Word from our Chair
Greetings!
As my term as SSEPC Chair comes to a close, I must say thank you to an amazing Executive Board and to the SSEPC general membership. It has been an honor and privilege to serve as Chair. I hope that each of you has the opportunity to be in Tempe for the TED conference! Please be sure to see our Facebook page for updates on SSEPC meetings and events that will be occurring at the TED conference.
During our general meeting in San Diego, I asked our Membership Chair, Dr. Jeremy Mills , to put together a group of individuals to discussing possible changes in our membership fee. The committee will bring forth a proposal to increase our membership. This fee will not be a large increase, but will raise our current $15 fee which has been in place for several years. We face increasing costs for conference events, the Nasim Dil Reception, and travel for the Chair’s position and this nominal increase will assist us in those endeavors.
Please be sure to bring an item for our Silent Auction. The auction will take place on Friday, November 6th. Our Associate Chair, Dr. Patrice Hallock, will be leading our silent auction this year and I know she will appreciate you bringing items to help raise funds for our caucus.
I am very excited to announce that SSEPC, in tandem with TED’s Professional Development Committee ,will be hosting a roundtable discussion on Thursday, November 5th from 1:00-1:50. Creating Comprehensive Professional Learning Networks: Increasing Opportunities for Research, Writing, and Discussion will be held in the San Pedro Room at Table 3. Please try to join us for this first co-sponsored event. Also, we hope to see you at the SSEPC Symposium!
In closing, let me remind you that we will have elections for Treasurer and Associate Chair. Please consider nominating someone for these positions. Ideal candidates would be individuals who have been members of SSEPC and have an understanding of the workings of the caucus.
See you in Tempe!!
