Over the past month, Global One to One has been featured in a variety of local media in its home city of Albuquerque

The rebranding from Project PeacePal to Global One to One this summer has helped us reach a wider network of supporters.  We are proud that our powerful work of connecting students across the world is being so widely recognized in the community.  Check out the recent Global One to One publicity:

KKOB 770 Radio: Global One to One will be featured on a 30 minute radio show hosted by Pat Allen on Cumulus Station 770 KKOB in Albuquerque. Work-study employee, Daniel Lucero, and UNM student group leader Evan Aguilar, both PeacePal participants, will discuss their experience with Global One to One along with Sarah Wilkinson.  Tune in to 770 KKOB AM on Saturday, October 17th at 5:30 pm, or if you're an early riser, listen in at 6:00 am the following morning, October 18th, on 93.3 KOB FM. You can also tune in to Albuquerque's other cumulus stations at these times to hear the interview.
  • United Way of Central New Mexico Center for Nonprofit ExcellenceAn article about our rebranding was published on September 15th on their Home Page.
  • Albuquerque Journal: We were featured in the By the Numbers segment  published in the "Business Outlook" section on September 21st, International Day of Peace.
  • A mention about our rebranding was also listed in the "Business Outlook" on October 5th.
  • Albuquerque the Magazine: Two advertisements for our Golf Tournament were published: one in the August and September issues.
  • Albuquerque Business First: Founding Director, Sarah Wilkinson was listed in the online "People on the Move" section on September 25th.
Thank you to all these local media outlets for helping us spread the word
about our organization and our new programs!

Program Feature
Each issue will highlight a partnership between students in the U.S. and their peers abroad.

Highland High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Shree Mangal Dvip (SMD) Boarding School in Kathmandu, Nepal have both been involved in the letter exchange program for several years, and have been partnered since 2011.

Number of Students This Year: 122 students (61 American and 61 Nepalese)
Number of Years Participating: 6 years (Highland High School), 5 years (SMD School)
Student Ages: Mixed high school group, ages 14-17

The students at Highland High School are Juniors and Seniors in AVID and Special Education classes.  Our dedicated teachers, Scott Virtue and Lionel Betsch, chose to bring this program into their classes to create this unique educational experience for their students.

At SMD School in Nepal, Lhakpa Lama has done an amazing job coordinating the program for his mixed-age student group. SMD School is a boarding school for Himalayan children located in the city of Kathmandu. The school provides quality education, housing, medical and dental care to hundreds of students. SMD was established to preserve the culture, language, and the Buddhist way of life in the Himalayas, and to give Himalayan children the tools to build a better future, so they can help their own people when they grow up
.

This year, the partnership was made possible by our GoFundMe campaign that raised funds for postage and program management.  So far this year, one letter from each side has been exchanged.  The letters and cards have been of exceptional quality, with colorful drawings and thoughtful words sent to new friends on the other side of the world!
