It makes a difference!

Today, as I was sitting in the sun for a few minutes, I was reflecting on gratitude and how much it can change the way we live. I was reminded of it last week, during a homework assignment of my daughter’s. Each week she has to pick a news story and analyze it and explain why it’s important. She had picked an unusual story about someone building a car designed to replicate a famous toy car. When asked why it was important, she said it wasn’t, but that it was fun. So we discussed that notion and came to the conclusion that it was indeed important.

In today’s world, we are overwhelmed with horrific stories and depressing news. If we focus on this constant negativity, nothing good can emerge; however, if we choose to look at lighter things, something fun or beautiful or heartwarming, it’s sure to put a smile on our face, and that is contagious.
That story was fun and it brought smiles and giggles to our day, and that truly was special. I am grateful for this kind of reminder, no matter how small it might seem. It reminded me that I can choose to see the good, fun, joyous aspects of life. I can decide not to wallow in despair and negativity. I can choose to bring gratitude and joy into my life, and to multiply it and share it with those around me as I make my way through this life.
So, as we approach Thanksgiving, I’d like to thank all of you for being part of my life and for allowing me to make a difference in yours!
