Plainfield Protest Sunday 10/18
Not Saturday 10/17

The Hampshire Daily Gazette wrote a great article about the upcoming protest at the intended pipe yard in Plainfield, MA. Unfortunately, they GOT THE DATE WRONG!

It's tomorrow, Sunday, October 18th at noon, not today, Saturday at noon.

Hope to see lots of you there! Speakers, music, T-shirts, buttons, bumper stickers, and the infamous Kinder Morgan Gas Leak Detection Kits. Come help protect this prime ADR Farmland!

NO PIPEYARD HERE! — Come Protest
A demonstration to protest a proposed pipe staging area on prime agricultural land in Plainfield is starting at noon on October 18th on East Main St. (Rt. 116) just east of the Plainfield Transfer Station, near a property that Kinder Morgan has listed as a favorable site for their 30”, 50 foot long pipes slated for the pipeline. This proposed site is a 300 acre parcel and is under an Agricultural Preservation Restriction (APR). It is one of the best agricultural areas in Plainfield.

POP, the Plainfield Opposition to the Pipeline, is planning on demonstrating with a model of the 30 inch pipe.  Please join us to demonstrate in solidarity how we value our “Right to Farm” communities and all other conserved lands in our Commonwealth like those protected under Article 97 of the State Constitution.  Bring a sign, bring a friend and, bring a voice. It’s a chance to visit a quaint rural community with a federally registered Historic District, just half a mile down the road from the demonstration area.

— Health Effects of Compressor Stations with Dr. Curtis Nordgaard. His talk will address what data are known about how air pollutants are distributed from compressor stations; what kinds of pollutants are released; what the health consequences are for local residents where these facilities are located; what communities facing natural gas infrastructure development can do to prepare themselves.
Dr. Nordgaard is a resident pediatrician at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center. He has an interest in environmental health and the potential health impacts of natural gas expansion projects. He has been examining the health impacts from compressor station emissions in communities in the eastern part of the state.
