It is not too early to start thinking about 2016 Town Meetings and/or drafting warrant articles to submit to be placed on the ballot. 

Town meetings happen from January-June depending on your location. Check with your town's websites/offices for exact dates.

Some towns may vote on adopting expensive policies taken from "master plan" schemes.  Get to know what your town is doing. Locally is the best place to fight back against federal intrusion.

  Like the No Labels people, this group is hard to pin down. There MIGHT be a few things they support that we would agree with. For the most part, they deserve watching carefully. They plan to take action at as many town meetings as possible.

They are currently trying to get a deceptively titled constitutional amendment passed in the state of NH. (RIGHT OF LOCAL COMMUNITY SELF-GOVERNMENT, LSR# 2352 HCACR)

Remember, this was the group that banned Rep. Bob Kingsbury from their meeting back in 2012.

Project funding is available from the NH Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) to develop and implement programs to protect existing sources of public drinking water.  Applicants can receive up to $20,000 for projects to protect drinking water sources, including watershed planning, delineation of protection areas, assessment of threats to water supply sources, implementation, and source security.

Lakes Region Planning Commission is an experienced partner with this program and can help.  Past projects have ranged from multi-town aquifer protection efforts to preventing direct roadway runoff into drinking water supplies through the installation of small efficient bio-retention ponds in the culvert catchment areas.  For more information please contact David Jeffers at djeffers@lakesrpc.org or at (603) 279-5341.

The application packet is available now to provide sufficient lead time for applicants to work with stakeholders and obtain compelling letters of commitment, which will be needed for some projects to score well in the competition for limited funds.  The importance of letters of commitment is reflected in the application materials.  Applicants should review the application materials at their earliest opportunity.

    The coming expansion of the Silvio O. Conte Wildlife Refuge by the US Fish and Wildlife Service in large parts of our state is a cause for concern.

This plan to expand, for which many people are being sent notifications as land owners who WILL BE affected by the proposed expansion, includes MA, CT, Southern and Northern areas in VT and NH.
