WLANSW and McCullough Robertson are honoured to host NSW’s first female Attorney-General as part of our “Inspiration before Breakfast” series.
In addition to her role as NSW Attorney-General, the Hon Gabrielle Upton MP is the current Member for Vaucluse and has previously served as Minister for Family and Community Services, Minister for Sport and Recreation and Parliamentary Secretary for Tertiary Education and Skills.
Ms Upton began her career as a banking and finance lawyer in Sydney in 1988. After then completing an MBA at New York University’s Leonard Stern School of Business, Ms Upton worked as an investment banker in New York. She subsequently returned to Sydney in 1999 where she took up a role as Legal Counsel at the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is now a Fellow of that body. Ms Upton has held numerous other significant roles including as Deputy Chancellor of the University of New South Wales and Deputy Chair of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards in Australia.
The Attorney General will share with us some highlights of her professional journey to date in both law and politics and also address the important question of how to increase female representation in law and politics.
