Message from SkillShare!

Hi everyone, and welcome to our November newsletter.  We've had an exceptionally busy October and made great progress in our mission to create a stronger, more sustainable sector, delivering real social change!

Last month we were delighted to be formally recognised as a Big Assist ‘Beacon of Change’ organisation by Sir Stuart Etherington, Chief Executive of NCVO (The National Council for Voluntary Services).  Sir Stuart was speaking at the launch of Big Assist’s Beacons for Change initiative in Manchester.

He told the audience CVA’s SkillShare is “helping to meet the changing needs of the communities they serve”, and we were highlighted as “outstanding….working in new and exciting ways, committed both to sharing their own stories and learning from others".

Thank you to all of our SkillShare businesses and CVA members that have made this happen.  We haven’t stopped smiling since!

CASE STUDY:  Tattenhall Community Association has a brand new website!

At the beginning of 2015, The Trustees of the Barbour Institute in Tattenhall were desperately seeking help to build a new website. Through Chester Voluntary Action’s SkillShare initiative, they were matched with Will Davies from Interwebi who offered to design a new website for them.

Pat Black, Trustee of Tattenhall Community Association said “although busy with his own business, Will took the time to come to Tattenhall and talk to the Trustees before translating our ideas into the fantastic website we now have.  We are very grateful to him for all his help.  Take a look at the website and judge for yourself!" www.barbourinstitute.co.uk

Will Davies, Managing Director of Interwebi said “Chester Voluntary Action helped us achieve something we always want to be able to do; not just run a business, but give something back to communities, organisations, or even individuals that would not have a budget for our services.  It’s been a fantastic experience and we are very pleased to have made the partnership with both the Barbour Institute, and CVA.”
