MEMPAC® COMING SOON

TO LOS ANGELES COUNTY

CONCEPTUAL DRAWING OF THE LA COUNTY WASTE WATER TREATMENT DEPARTMENT 20,000 GDP MEMPAC®

The LA County Waste Water Treatment Department chose Cloacina LLC for their most recent wastewater treatment plant up-grade project. The County of Los Angeles Internal Services Department approved the purchase and construction of a MEMPAC® Membrane Bio Reactor, a completely pre-packaged, stainless steel Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR).

The County of Los Angeles decided to upgrade a failing wastewater treatment plant located at Munz Mendenhall Juvenile Probation Camp, which was originally built in 1954. The current wastewater treatment plant is a monolithic built activated sludge plant that struggles to maintain effluent standards due to failing infrastructure. The initial project plan was to rehabilitate the existing treatment plant, but costs were prohibitive. Project Manager Vera Rangel and her team sought alternative options to the expensive plant rehabilitation.  As a result, they reached out to JBI, a manufacturer’s representative firm for wastewater equipment. JBI proposed Cloacina’s MEMPAC®, which significantly reduced project costs and helped the County meet their budgetary requirements.

The MEMPAC® provided to the County utilizes dual-train Fibracast MBR modules to produce re-use quality effluent. Cloacina also provided a pre-packaged chlorine contact chamber and effluent pumping station built into the equipment train.

The County’s MEMPAC® is in the beginning stages of fabrication and is scheduled to be installed in early 2016.
