Letter from the Co-Presidents

Jeff David and David Harrison

We hope everyone is having a great fall season and that you’re gearing up for a strong finish for 2015! The PRSA-Maryland Chapter has been busy with programming, awards and networking events. Here’s a summary of activity and what’s on tap for the coming months:

  • We received a record number of entries for Best In Maryland Awards on Sept. 18. They are now being judged by the West Michigan Chapter. Please mark your calendar and join us for the BIM Awards Gala on Dec. 1 at the Baltimore Hilton Hotel;
  • Co-sponsoring the Mid-Atlantic Marketing Summit on Sept. 30 enabled our members to attend at a discount for a day of learning, including a special PR track. Thanks to all who attended and presented;
  • Are you an established public relations practitioner who would like to help the next generation of professionals? If so, consider joining our Mentoring Program. Applications are being accepted through Oct. 15;
  • Our October program will feature a case study from Vitamin and the agency’s client, Saint Agnes Hospital. The program will take place Oct. 21 at Erickson Living;
  • The International PRSA Conference is Nov. 8-10 in Atlanta. Our chapter will be represented during the Assembly by PRSA-MD member Ken Smith, APR, The Boeing Company.

Finally, we are always on the lookout for volunteers who would like to help the chapter while meeting new people and making valuable connections. Contact either of us to explore opportunities that fit your interests, and please consider joining the chapter if you are not already a member.

Jeffrey Davis, APR, and David Harrison

October Program Focuses on Brand Awareness, Preference

Featuring a joint presentation with Vitamin and Saint Agnes Hospital

How do you successfully generate positive buzz and awareness for your brand at a reasonable spend, especially during a time when the market is over-saturated with related content? That’s the challenge that web and PR agency, Vitamin, and Catonsville-based client, Saint Agnes Hospital, came up against when promoting the hospital’s Comprehensive Breast Center during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Together, they developed "One Journey, Many Paths,” a fully integrated campaign that used creative voices to tell a unique story across all mediums most relevant to the hospital’s patient population. Join us as Vitamin and Saint Agnes Hospital discuss the success of "One Journey, Many Paths" and the unique communications tactics employed to not only achieve, but surpass the program's goals.
