This workshop will offer a comprehensive overview of HPAI issues for the pasture environment. Attendees will learn best practices to prevent infection, as well as their rights and responsibilities should an outbreak occur on their farm. Speakers will include: Mike Badger, executive director of APPPA and successful pastured poultry farmer; Susan Beal, holistic livestock health specialist and DVM; and Patty Dunn, avian pathologist at Penn State University and DVM. Staff from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and PASA will also be on hand to help answer questions and facilitate discussion.

Pennsylvania Certified Organic (PCO) announces a job opening for Director of Education and Outreach. This position will lead the Education and Outreach Team and oversee PCO’s resource development, education and outreach, and marketing and public relations, which includes supervisory duties for Education and Outreach staff. The ideal candidate will have education and experience in the following areas: writing proposals and securing funding, conducting community education and outreach, and leading marketing initiatives. We are looking for a well-organized and self-motivated person to join our team. This position is based in our Spring Mills, PA office but remote work locations within central and southeastern Pennsylvania will be considered.
This is a full-time, exempt position.
Salary: $55,000 – $60,000, depending on experience.
