Happy Thanksgiving to Ewe!

Greetings, Dubliners!

In this season of thanks, we have a very special thank you from Dublin Bay and Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital.  As noted below, one of the Irish Boys, Seamus, has spent several days there this past month.  Two years ago, they also fixed up a wild Scottish Highlander who would go on to become Jamieson MacFluff, aka, The Dark Menace.  They also saved the life of the other Irish Boy, Fergus back in 2004.  On one of our recent visits, I turned in our full Dove Lewis shop collection box for the Injured Stray & Wildlife Fund.  My contact at Dove is the lovely Abby.  I asked her what Dublin Bay and its generous customers have donated over the years?  I was unprepared for the totals!   Just in case you thought those pennies don't add up to much, here's proof that they definitely do!

$405 in cash donations & $507 in donated items for events!  The Scots-Irish Boys Applaud Ewe!
Just Arrived!

Life in the Long Grass
We love our Irish hand dyes around here (haven't ewe heard?), and our newest favorite is stocked for the season! We carry three of their unbelievable sock-weight lines - Weathered Sock, Dappled Sock, and Semi-Solids Sock. Their colorways are always rich, always bold, and always a fantastic choice for socks, shawls, and light sweaters. Come see what all the fuss is about this Fall!

Studio Donegal
Our walls are packed with Soft Donegal again, and we couldn't be happier (or more full of ideas!). We love it for its warmth, its depth, and its versatility. Soft Donegal offers tweedy perfection that will soften up your favorite Fishermen sweater! Not looking for such a committed project? One skein will give you some cozy and textured hats or mitts!

Celtic Caprine Creations
Who doesn't love goat milk soap? We are freshly stocked with a selection of the silkiest suds around! Decorative and long-lasting, these bars will brighten your ablutions for months to come. We have loads of lovely shapes and new scents like the rugged Irish Breeze and sweet Sage Lemongrass. Pop on by to pick your favorite from the baskets!

Bragging Rights:  Recently Completed Projects!

Cecilia by Mathew Gnagy
Nancy may have left the shop for the time being to tend to Montana cabin adventures, but she left us with some beautiful FOs! Here's another shining example from Knitting Off the Axis that shakes up what you think about knitting. Nancy jumped fearlessly into the unusual construction using Cascade 220 Superwash in the perfect Fall colorway (1975 Provence)! We love the wrapped cables and comfy fit, and we think you will too!

Swallowtail Shawl by Evelyn A. Clark

April is pleased as pie to show off her recent work! Though it was a bit of a challenge, there are no complaints on her part - she jumped at the chance to work with our solstice lumiere lace  (colorway snoqualmie oatmeal) in such a transitional Fall piece. She knit extra lace repeats for added wrapping (and drama, of course!). This pattern is available as a free download on Ravelry, but due to popularity, we're sure ewe already knew that!

Cheers to Ewe!
Tricia, Stephanie, April, & the Critters!

What the $^%^$ Did They Do Now?

....the continuing misadventures of two Irish Boys & one Scottish Boy.

This month, it's all about Seamus (Shay-mus)
The little doodlebug really did it to himself this time and as a result landed himself at the emergency vet for several days.  Sparing you the icky details, he has tummy trouble and required a variety of x-rays, tests, and an ultrasound which required a very attractive hair cut.  The results?  He's perfect in every way.  All tests came back normal.

All the travelling back and forth, however, has been truly exciting.  Apparently, that carrier is a portal to Narnia.

Great Grandma Nyberg's Mind Your Manners Corner

When my Great Grandma Nyberg emigrated from Sweden to Seattle in 1913, she used the newspaper to learn English, and the “Mind Your Manners” column in particular.  She taped all the important manners into a little notebook.  Each month we’ll post a funny or two in her honor.
