Inclusion BC's submission to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services

Inclusion BC submitted the Consultation and Recommendations for the 2016 BC Budget to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services to make the case to raise disability assistance rates in next year's provincial budget. Read the Inclusion BC Budget 2016 Consultation Paper.

Results from survey for families supporting a son or daughter with a developmental disability

Inclusion BC conducted a survey for families with a son or daughter with a developmental disability and their access to funding and services. In under two weeks, 647 families shared their experiences. The results from the survey are available here.

Murder Suicide of Angie and Robert Robinson:BC's Call to Action

Inclusion BC held a news conference yesterday in Victoria announcing a plan for regional advocate positions across the province to help families supporting children with special needs and adults with developmental disabilities. Read the news release and the proposal to the BC Government.

CACL calling for safeguards in physician-assisted suicide

The Canadian Association for Community Living is calling on all levels of government to develop a system that respects the values of dignity, autonomy and inclusion. “It is time to get past the polarizing views on the morality, ethics and laws around physician-assisted suicide and work together. CACL believes we can find common ground and address legitimate concerns that face all Canadians”. Read more on the CACL website.

Listen to CBC radio's InDignity series on people with disabilities

From Oct. 13-16, CBC’s Stephen Quinn hosted â€œIn Dignity: Disabilities, Freedom and the Fight for Security,” on On the Coast. "In Dignity" featured stories of abuse, potential cuts to home-care services and institutionalized living. Also featured, is a ride on accessible transportation service HandyDART and a solutions-oriented panel to close the series. Read more about the series and listen to the audio here.  

Employment Supports Advanced Certificate - Douglas College

If you or your staff are looking to upgrade your skills, to gain continuing education credits and or to enhance your professional skills in the Employment Services Field, get your application to Douglas College by November 30, 2015. The Employments Supports Specialty Advanced Certificate is a part time program developed to meet the increasing need for trained professionals to assist people with disabilities into the workforce.
