Project Spotlight:
Bracewell Stadium
AN IOWA HIGH SCHOOL STADIUM, IN A LEAGUE OF IT'S OWN
The Professional Staff of Klingner’s Burlington Branch Office provided architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil and surveying engineering services to Burlington Community School District and the Purple and Grey Foundation in the renovation of historic Bracewell Stadium.
Bracewell Stadium was the first stadium west of the Mississippi equipped with lighting for the playing of night games and is now is the first high school stadium in the country equipped with LED lighting. A new accessible parking lot and press box with private coaching suites and a hospitality area were added to the west side of the stadium. Spectators now enjoy direct access to new toilet rooms, concession stand with live game feed video monitors and a VIP seating area. New entrances to the north and south not only welcome visitors to the stadium but provide security and crowd control for those entering and exiting.
Once inside the stadium spectators are treated to beautifully landscaped areas, paved walkways, retaining walls and water feature with integrated lighting. They also enjoy the new state-of-art digital score board with video screen. Players now enjoy the artificial playing surface and warm-up area enhanced with the school colors and logo adorning the field sized for high school football and NCAA soccer. The project has been well received by the community and has already garnered the attention of other school districts and leading to a similar renovations in the near future.
