Month of Fear
I'm busy in the studio this month, but my artwork can be seen around the web. For a diverse and wonderful show of Halloween-themed artwork, check out Kristina Carroll's 2015 Month of Fear art challenge. Participating artists create original work inspired by a new theme each week, and post it on the Month of Fear Tumblr page. New work goes up every day as successive artists post throughout the week. Prepping for our Kickstarter kept me out of the first two challenges, but you can see my MoF; Sabbath graphite piece, "The Worship of Dame Habounde" here. (Slightly NSFW, pregnant-lady nudity.)
My original work from the challenge will be available in the Studio Wondercabinet store on Square Market later this month.

Cthulhu Christmas Greeting Card Kickstarter
Studio Wondercabinet is running its first Kickstarter campaign as Daniel and I raise funds for the Cthulhu Christmas Greeting Card project. I'm creating original artwork for a set of four holiday cards that combine traditional festive good cheer with H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos, and Daniel is acting art director, project management and Kickstarter wrangler. We are humbled to say that our campaign funded on the first day, and at this point we're trying to keep the excitement rolling towards the sketch goals. You can read more about about the project on its Kickstarter page, here.
We want our Cthulhu Christmas Cards to be recognizably Lovecraftian but still hark back to the holiday cards of the late 1920s, when Lovecraft was writing. The Kickstarter page has images of both the two finished cards and pencils for the art in progress, for the curious.
Away from the Kickstarter page, I'm keeping a journal about the process of making the art at the CCGCBlog page on my website. Links will be reposted on my Tumblr page as well, where it's easy to leave comments and questions.
Time is short; we need to have the cards print-ready as soon as the Kickstarter ends to get finished sets to backers in time for Christmas. At this point I'm still working on two paintings for the basic set and a third for a potential Stretch Goal reward. Will we achieve that stretch goal? I do not know. But the stretch goal card needs to be ready at the printers with the rest of the set if it does. Our Kickstarter campaign is a short one, ending on 4 November 2015.
I'll be painting hard for the next couple of weeks to get this project ready for the printers. It will be wonderful to see the finished cards when the project is done!

Season of Stories and Songs, the wrap up...
Last month I showed sketch details from a project for the King County library system celebrating Autumn as "a season of songs and stories." Now the main painting of the project is live at the Library's webpage. Below, I'm posting a detail from the finished banner art, showing all three of the characters that evolved from last month's sketches.

This month's sketch at the end of the letter is a little study of a girl's face with her hair flowing around her. This is a doodle from my sketchbook -- I thought she should be shared at least once before she vanishes forever. The sketchbook is nearly filled up with drawings now. When I run out of pages, they go on a shelf "for future reference" but I hardly ever look at them afterwards because there are always new sketchbooks to fill.
