We’re Better Together

One thing the Scriptures make clear is that as the church, we’re at our best when we’re following Jesus together. This is true in so many areas, including worship and leadership. So over the coming months, we want to be very intentional about coming together.

One way we’re going to do this is on the Sundays when we share communion each month. Few experiences draw the church together like the Lord’s Table. So, for the next four months beginning November 22, we want to combine our two morning worship venues in the Worship Center on communion Sundays. And because there will be no Classic service in the Commons on these days, the worship at the 8:30 am service will be its current contemporary style at a softer level.

It will be so good to worship together!

Another way we’re going to come together relates to the leadership conversations we’ve been having the past couple of months. Our church has a rich heritage of godly leadership. This includes many men who have served in the past on our elder board. Next month we’re going to expand our leadership conversation. On November 12, our current elder board will spend the evening with our former elders to pray and talk about our church and our future.

It will be so good to focus on leadership together.

At no time in our life as a church has it been more important to work together for the glory of our King. He has given us a clear mission—to bring the love of Jesus to those who don’t know Him. And he has called us to pursue this mission as one body. I’m so glad we don’t have to go it alone.

It is so comforting to recognize that Jesus is the Head of the church and this body. We’re better together!

Chairman, Elder Board

Family In Church

I watch the family across the aisle and up a few rows: dad, mom, daughter, grandma. Three generations lined up like stepping stones.

Week after week I see them. Family—generations side-by-side, a united front.

My eye is drawn to the daughter. She’s a young adult, maybe twenty years old, standing between her mom and her grandma.

I can’t remember the last time I was her...

Thanksgiving Offering—Unite for Valencia Park

During the last five years, we have held many events (Easter and Thanksgiving) and summer school (Solful) with the students and families of Valencia Park. Now, we are looking for a missional community that would be willing to live in the neighborhood and help us reach out with prayer walks, family dinners, kids activities, and school support. Our dream is to see this neighborhood thriving because people are empowered and united in a Gospel-centered community.

We need to raise $30,000 to help cover the costs of rent, building an after school program staff, training and supplies. We want to help cover the rent for the team so they can focus their time and energy as missionaries in the community. We also hope to find a space that will serve as a community center, providing adult education as well as kids after-school programming.

To give to this special fund, write “Thanksgiving” on the memo line of your check, select the “Thanksgiving” fund in the drop down menu in Direct Connect, or text “Thanksgiving” and the amount to 714-699-9994.
