September Student of the Month

Congratulations to James "Dutch" Matthews!!

A skilled electrician by trade, Dutch (pictured above) has decided to add welding to his set of accomplished crafts... and he is well on his way to mastering yet another trade. Dutch brings maturity, work ethic, and leadership to his peers (along with some goofy fun too!), and has already set a great example for his classmates. He really allowed his skills to shine when GTS was in need of electrical assistance - thank you for your help and expertise, Dutch!
Congratulations, Dutch, and keep up the good work!!

Never Forget - Georgia Trade School at the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund 9/11 Stair Climb

For the third year in a row, GTS was a major sponsor at the Terry Farrell 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb held at the Wildwood Towers. Hundreds of climbers paid
tribute to the fallen, and we honored fallen Deputy Micheal Norris from the Monroe County Sherriff's office. Micheal's parents attended the climb along with Monroe County Deputy Jackson, who is shown above with a plaque honoring Deputy Norris' End of Watch.

GTS VP Sean Quinton and our friend Matt Hayden from Cedartown High School, along with GTS graduates Ryan Pierce and Gary Ware, fabricated a sculpture of the Twin Towers (pictured below). This sculpture was presented to Retired NYPD Detective Mike Korsch before the climb.

Gary, Ryan, Sean and his wife Heidi completed all the floors of the climb which is 7 flights on the 15 story building (all pictured below).

Film Crews Return to Weldland

Once again we hosted our friends at Kimberly Clark who brought a film crew
in to capture more commercial shots for the Jackson Safety Balder Helmets.
Shoot day (see below) is always very exciting and further proof after three national
commercials that Georgia is definitely becoming Hollywood East and GTS is
proud to be part of the welding piece of our thriving Film and Television
Industry.

KSU meets GTS

Hannah Frary, a Journalism student at Kennesaw State University, recently interviewed Georgia Trade School Founder Ryan Blythe to discuss college alternatives; below is a link to that article:

28 Certs Later

Our recent graduating class earned a whopping 28 welding certifications,
setting a school record! Congratulations to Russell Robinson, Lucas Taylor,
Tanner Robertson, Josh Rhoades, Jared Summit and Michael Craddock on this
tremendous achievement. Further proof that the more you burn, the more you
learn and later, earn!
