Dear Colleagues,
We are happy to share the second edition of the COE Research Focus with you, including research highlights, research news, as well as introducing new faculty hires. Our inaugural edition was published on August 24, 2015.
It is exciting to see continued growth in our research activities. Our faculty have received 18 new NSF grants this fiscal year. We continue to diversify funding sources with increasing number of recent major grants from NIH and DOD. The college was abuzz with close to 70 proposals submitted in October.
While funding is necessary, we will continue to track and maximize the impact of our research. A list of recent patents is included in this edition. It is difficult to track publications on a monthly basis, so we will continue to track and assess publications on a yearly basis. A list of papers published in 2014 is available at COE website. A few recent research examples are included here and highlighted at our COE News website. Of course, if you have any new publications in high impact journals, we urge you to let Mariah know upon acceptance into the journal (before publication).
Further building our research enterprise is a shared undertaking; we appreciate your ideas and suggestions to maximize the capacity for, and the impact of, our research. We look forward to working with you all on this important endeavor.
