Changes to food import inspection under Chinese New Food Safety Law

On 24 April 2015, China National People’s Congress amended and passed the new Food Safety Law. It has made impacts on quarantine and inspections.  The new Law enters into force on 1 October 2015. The changes in the new Law include the implementation of the food recall mechanism, new relationships between local governments and the departments of inspection and quarantine, and increase in the amount of penalties.

New Abalone Projects by Yishui Abalone Farm, Dongshan County, Chinese Eastern Fujian Province

Since its establishment in 1999, Yishui Abalone Farm of Dongshan County has introduced Jiukong Abalone (Haliotis deversicolor supertexta), Black Abalone, and Haliotis discus hannai, and developed new breeds. The test proves that compared with other species, the growth cycle of Green Disk Abalone can be shortened by one month, and survival rate raised by 10% with higher resistance to diseases. It has wider adaptability to sea water salinity and water temperature.

Ningbo City of Chinese Eastern Zhejiang Province Imported 21 Tonnes of Rocklobsters from Mozambique

On 16 September, Meishan Bonded Area of Ningbo City received the imports of 21.32 tonnes of Rocklobsters from Mozambique. It is expected that the lot of Rocklobsters would enter the seafood supermarkets in Ningbo city in one week. The Rocklobsters sold in the markets are mostly cooked ones...

Each Box of Abalone Mooncake Only at More Than 300 RMB Yuan in Shandong Province China

On 17 September 2015, on the occasion of coming Mid-Autumn Festival, reporters visited several supermarkets in Tai-an City Shandong Province and learnt that mooncakes had become more affordable, at a range of 60 to 500 RMB yuan per box. One type of mooncakes containing Abalone are sold at only 358 yuan per box.
