International WIM Newsletter, Vol. XIX: Autumn 2015
IWiM is dedicated to building an international community for all women in the mining and metals sector.

Come and See our New Website

The last quarter of 2015 has been a busy one for IWiM. We launched a new website with additional functionality, we unveiled our membership package with increased benefits, started new projects and increased the team behind the scenes.

Many thanks must go to those of you who put your hands up when I asked for volunteers to join the IWiM team. We are expanding so that we may communicate with you more often (including more frequent newsletters), deliver more projects like Women on Boards and More Women Conference Presenters, and generally grow the IWiM community.

On a local level, we are working to improve our connection with Women in Mining (WIM) chapters on all continents by having a dedicated team covering each region. Our teams are also in the process of helping form WIM chapters in Brazil and China.
The aim of each of our regional engagement teams is to spearhead collaboration with the different WIM chapters. This will better enable us to create a global community of women in mining, sharing knowledge and opportunities across the globe. Let us know if you are interested in getting involved!

In project news, we are ramping up our initiative to place more women on mining conference panels and into speaker spots. The goal of the More Women Conference Presenters project is to work with conference organisers to enable qualified and accomplished female leaders to be more represented on conference speaker lists. In addition, the project aspires to break down barriers women might commonly experience while pursuing speaking opportunities, such as obtaining funding for travel and conference registration.
If you are interested in (or just slightly curious about) being a presenter in your field of expertise in the next year or two, please get in touch with Natalya Lozovaya.  She will need a few short paragraphs detailing your area of expertise, any prior presenting experience, and any specific conferences you may be interested in. Even if public speaking is not your thing, we would love to hear from you if you have ideas about which conferences we should be looking into.

Advertise your job vacancies with International WIM and reach thousands of qualified female mining professionals.
We link into 8500+ women in mining in 100+ countries and are connected with over 40 local women-in-mining chapters.
Your employment opportunities will also be visible to highly engaged contacts in universities, colleges, women’s groups around the world, and professional bodies that encourage the progress of women in their careers.
Our leading global role in helping to boost the talent pool of women in mining means that choosing to advertise with us also highlights your desire to be an employer of choice.
You can now upload your job opportunity directly on the website.

Finally, I wanted to let you know about an exciting evolution happening at IWiM. We are now in a position to provide you with even more value via membership. This means we are giving you a choice.  You can choose to continue as a free user; or you can have more. By joining us as a full member, you will have access to an international directory, be informed about speaking engagements, put yourself forward to feature on our board-ready database and have the opportunity to participate in best practice forums. If you are interested in becoming a registered member (and helping to support IWiM), please click here.

For those who celebrate Christmas, we wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas; and to everyone – a Happy New Year!
