1.  Israel-Oklahoma Connection
Last week I was riding a cable car to the top of Masada, the palace and fortress built by King Herod in the 30s BC.  About eighty-five of us were packed in the car like sardines.  Half way up, I hear, “John!  John Michener, what are you doing here?”  It was Judy Wesselhoft with her husband, Rep. Paul Wesselhoft (R-Moore, OKC).  I also ran into Rep. John Bennett (R-Sallisaw) on top of the mountain.  Here is a picture of us.

I was reminded that David Boren is still in possession of a painting that was stolen by the Nazis.  Here is the video of the program we did on the subject.  We would like to see the Legislature pass a resolution with teeth in it to help Mr. Boren do the right thing.

2.  More Guns = Less Crime
Israel has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.  Families of Israelis from every ethnic background allow their young children to walk to and from school and the market by themselves.  They may be worried about war breaking out at any time, but they certainly don’t worry about rape, robbery, or kidnapping.  I wonder if that could be related to every adult carrying a sidearm or a machine gun.

This is a picture of my personal security detail in Jerusalem.  If the Israeli government can trust eighteen-year-old girls with guns to protect tourists at complicated, high-holy sites, surely our government can trust its citizens to carry weapons to defend themselves in dangerous, high-holy places like The University of Oklahoma.

3.  Program Oct. 28: Andrew Sandlin
Our speaker this Wednesday at Mama Roja will be Andrew Sandlin, President of the Center for Cultural Leadership.  Mr. Sandlin will be presenting, “Bad Church Ideas that Produce Bad Political Consequences.”  Perhaps he will mention pietism and pacifism.

4.  Luther Bond Busted
On October 13 the people of Luther, Oklahoma sent a strong message to the socialist do-gooders who wanted to force local residents to borrow $33 million.  Thank God we still have some people with sense left in our state.  The measure was defeated 85% to 14%.

5.  OCPAC YouTube Channel
OCPAC has a YouTube Channel, thanks to local videographer and OCPAC member Maggie Abel.  This channel is the repository for all of our programs which get recorded.  Keep in mind that we do not record all programs.  Maggie volunteers her services and is not always available.  Also, we do not record candidate interviews.  Furthermore, just because we record and post a speaker does not mean we endorse the views of the speaker.  We enjoy hearing all sides, and we frequently host speakers presenting controversial messages.  You will find a wide range of worldviews and philosophies represented on these videos.  Please go enjoy one of the programs that you really wanted to attend but missed.  You might want to start with Medical Rape, a discussion of mandatory vaccines.

The views expressed in this email are the personal opinion of John Michener and do not necessarily reflect the views of OCPAC, its leadership team, or its members.
