November is coming quickly!

You may still have Trick or Treating to do, but November is right around the corner.  We've had a great fall so far, just wrapping up a challenging sermon series on the Wise Investment that Jesus calls for us to make with our lives. Community Groups are running stronger than ever, the mid-week ministries are reaching people every week, and we reached the 400 mark for attendance for the first time yet.  There's a lot happening at Park Church, and we want you to know it all.  Please read through this very important email and keep up to date!

For the past few years, Park Church has been moving ahead at a rapid pace.  We've moved from a movie theater in Red Bank, to a church in Tinton Falls, and finally to our home at 31 Park last December.  It has been a lot of work...good work, but hard too!  So in recognition of the special burden that lead pastors carry during these times of great movement, Park Church is please to announce a long overdue sabbatical for our Lead Pastor, Christian Andrews, throughout November and December.  During this time, he will rest, recharge, and be restored by God for the great work ahead that God has given Park Church to do.

Please take a few minutes to watch the video that we've prepared to explain the sabbatical and answer questions.  If you have any questions, please contact the elders of Park Church.  Also, it is important that we allow Christian to rest during this time.  If you want to offer him some encouragement, prayers, a meal, etc. - or the same for Matt Agresti and Jared Murray, who are filling in in his absence - please do so through Mercy Ministry.
2015 has been a fantastic year for Park Church: expanding to two services, growing our ministries, and living in this new building at 31 Park. With this, we’ve had greater expenses. We still have a ways to go to reach our financial goal for 2015.

So between October 1 and December 31, the goal is to bring in $150,000 to make budget - and we still have about $118,000 left to go…approximately $13,000 per week.  So please prayerfully consider how you can give to the mission of the church, and give as you are able.  Contact Elaine Anzalone with any questions, and consult our giving page for additional information.  And check out Sunday's sermon on the importance of investing yourself in giving financially.

"Lord, teach us to pray."

This is a request that Jesus' followers made of him because they wanted to know how to pray.  This November, Park Church will be asking this same question of Jesus - and looking at the same response he gave his followers: the Lord's Prayer.  We need God's help, and so it is a wise investment for us to learn how to pray.  So come every Sunday at 9:00 or 10:45, and re-discover the prayer that Jesus taught his followers - and still teaches us today - in this vital sermon series.
New to Park Church?  Just checking things out?  Figuring out where to get plugged in? This Sunday, we’ll be holding a special “Meet & Greet” reception just for you! It’s at 10:15 in the office behind the welcome desk.  You’ll find out about the mission, vision, and values of Park and get to meet some staff and/or elders.
Come out and kick off the holiday season early with a Men’s Bowling Night!! We’ll be meeting at the Bradley Beach Bowl & Recreation Center (1217 Main St, Bradley Beach, NJ 07720) at 7pm to bowl a few games and enjoy some time together.  If you’re interested in coming out, please email Chris Benosky and let him know so we can get a rough head count before the event.

THIS SUNDAY, LAST CHANCE TO DONATE COATS!

Donate your gently used coats!  Throughout October, Mercy Ministry has been running a Coat Drive to collect as many ‘gently used’ coats as possible to donate through Jersey Cares (a volunteer empowering organization).  All shapes and sizes are welcomed and needed, so go through your closets!  Place coats in the Mercy Ministry donation bin next to the main entrance by November 1st.  Contact Amanda Quinn with any questions.

CRAFT & DECORATE FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON!

The Park Church Design & Decor team is gearing up for Christmas! Join us on the evening of November 9th at 7PM at 31 Park for some Christmas Craft Night. We'll be stringing garland and painting buntings and would love as many hands as we can get to make light work. All welcome, as young as elementary school aged kids! We're also looking for some supplies for that night. Please go to our Sign Up Genius page for volunteer slots and material donations - use it to let us know you're coming and what you're bringing. Materials can be dropped off prior to the evening of 11/9 - contact Carol Lang to coordinate.  We'll be installing the Christmas decorations the Saturday after Thanksgiving (11/28) at 1PM on Decorate Day. Use the sign up link above to let us know if you can make it that day, too! Come to one, come to both, we'd love to craft with you!"

Mark your calendars for a festive December!

  • On Saturday December 12, we'll have a special Christmas Evensong at 31 Park.  Evensong is a special service that involves singing a lot of Christmas songs, prayers, and scripture reading - as well as a time for hanging out and celebrating the birth of our Savior together!  Time and details TBD.
  • This December 24, Park Church will have Christmas Eve Services at 31 Park at 3:30 and 5:30.  Start inviting your friends and family to these special services, where we will celebrate the birth of Jesus together!  More details to come.
