Website Redesigned

We are pleased to announce that phase one of the redesign of the FORCE11 website is now live. Check it out....start a group, join a group, add announcements, calendar listings, post blogs, and more.   We especially thank the Moore Foundation for their funding of the website redesign and their continued support of the FORCE11 community. 
 

NIH Funds F11 Data Citation Pilot Project

FORCE11 has received an award from NIH to fund a Data Citation Pilot. A FORCE11 working group of publishers, data repositories, authors and informaticians will implement the Joint Declaration of Data Citation Principles in early-adopter, leading biomedical journals. Participating publishers and repositories will receive significant help from technical experts on how to make data citation a reality. Details including how to participate are here
 

F11 Receives Funding to Map the Scholarly Commons

The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust has provided funds for two workshops and supporting materials to explore the theme, “Are We Ready to Define the Scholarly Commons?” The workshops will help identify guiding principles and common goals for communicating scientific scholarship in an increasingly networked world.  To get involved with this project, join the group here.  
 

Global Survey on Scholarly Communication Tools 

Have you taken part already?
Following up on their FORCE2015 prizewinning poster on innovations in scholarly communication, Jeroen Bosman and Bianca Kramer from Utrecht University Library are currently running a worldwide survey to capture actual tool usage patterns across all disciplines, research roles and countries. 5,000 responses to date.  Please participate.  All results will be shared publicly after the survey ends.

John Brownstein, Chief Innovation Officer at Boston Children's Hospital, Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, and co-creator of HealthMap will be speaking on Monday, April 18.
 
Cassidy Sugimoto, Associate Professor at the School of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University Bloomington will be speaking on Tuesday, April 19.

Phil Bourne, Associate Director for Data Science, National Institutes of Health will be speaking on Tuesday, April 19.

Call for Workshops/ Meetings

Deadline:  Nov. 13, 2015

Workshops will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at OHSU in Portland, followed by a tram reception and a viewing of the OHSU Historical Collections and Archives. If you wish to host a public or private meeting, please submit a meeting reservation form.
