Dear Friends:

I got a late start on the newsletter so this one will be brief.  If you haven't checked it out yet, please take a look at our new website - www.smallslive.com (www.smallsjazzclub.com takes you there too).  If you were registered to the old site you'll need to go and re-register because the old passwords are not recognized.  Our live stream is still free with a valid email.  However, now we are offering our complete audio/video archive from the last 8 years - this is more than 10,000 recordings and representing over 1000 musicians.  For $10/month you can have unlimited access to this archive (with about 20 shows added per week).  This is great for folks who can't stay up late to watch a show they want to see or for our friends in other parts of the world.  The revenue we collect from subscribing SmallsLIVE members is pooled and distributed to the artists in the archive based on how much they get listened to.  We've worked really hard to try to create the most fair revenue sharing plan that we could and think that the SmallsLIVE revenue share project maybe the most unique of its kind.  The musicians and the club are 50/50 partners with the musicians owning 100% of the recordings and 100% of the publishing.  Furthermore, revenue from the pool subsidizes the costs of operating the clubs and so that eventually kicks back to the musicians again.  If you love the music from Smalls and want to support the artists and the club please consider becoming a subscribing member.

We got quite a bit of great music this week on both sides of West 10th street and 7th ave.  The weather is still lovely so take the opportunity to come out, have a cocktail and enjoy some of the best live jazz that New York has to offer.

           Pianist Spike Wilner invites his long-time collegue, French guitarist Yves Brouqui for an evening of trio with bassist Paul Gill.  Yves is a melodic and soulful improvisor with a deep love for the blues.  With them hard swinging Paul Gill on bass.

Eddy Davis with
Jon-Erik Keliso & Ehud Asherie

Eddy Davis has a deep swinging, joyful sound in the full tradtion of jazz music.  He is a long-time associate of Woody Allen's and has contributed much to his film's music.  With him is pianist Ehud Asherie and the amazing Jon-Erik Kellso on trumpet.
