Bringing Celebrations and Concern to our church family - Oct. 28

"To the thirsty I will give water as a gift from the spring of the water of life." Rev. 21:6

Here's what's happening this week...

ALL SAINTS' SUNDAY
All Saints' Sunday is a time to rejoice in all who through the ages have faithfully served God. It reminds us that we are a part of one continuing, living communion of saints. During our service we will remember those who have died in this past year, and all the departed, as we come together at the Lord's Table. We will also dedicate our financial commitments for 2016 and our community's future.

BRING YOUR PLEDGE CARDS THIS WEEK
When we are conscious of our blessings and our hearts fill up with gratitude, we often feel called to share what has been so graciously given to us by our God. Our journey and purpose become meaningful when we share these gifts joyfully with others in need. We have heard, seen, and hopefully experienced this in so many ways within our beautiful church community. Please fill out a pledge card (available by each door) and bring it with you to 10:00am worship next Sunday, or mail it back to the church. You may also email it to Pastor Jeff.

SCOTTISH PEWTER
Following worship, Ruling Elder Barbara Horan will present "Scottish Church Pewter." As a longtime member of the Scottish Pewter Society, Barbara will share some of the more objects from her personal collection while teaching us how these were used in the celebration of communion and the collection of the weekly offering. Because communion was celebrated only occasionally, chalices tended to be quite large. Meet in the Conference Room.

IN OUR PRAYERS
* Wanda Van Woert is again in White Plains hospital.
* Stella's mother is recovering from surgery this morning.
* Ivelyn Turner is recovering from surgery last week.
Please keep theses sister in your prayers.

WITH GRATITUDE
To my entire WPPC church family, I want to extend my warmest thanks for your prayers, phone calls, emails, and wondrous love as I continue to heal from my recent surgery.  I especially want to send special love and gratitude to the angels who walk among us – namely, Carmen Gray, Olga Daniels, and Edna Shaw who accompanied me and prayed for me throughout the morning as I went through the surgery.  Indeed, I am so blessed to be a part of this congregation!  Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

CHILDREN'S CHOIR BEGINS - Nov. 4
Dear WPPC Families, I am delighted that our new Children's Choir will be starting next Wednesday, November 4th. Rehearsals will be held on Wednesday evenings, 5:30-6:00. Rehearsal will be preceded with a light supper and 5:00, and Pastor Jeff will lead adult fellowship for parents in the conference room while the children rehearse in the sanctuary. Children of all ages are welcome, although the choir will be geared for children in 6th grade and under. I hope to see many of you on Wednesday night!

ANNUAL PRAYER BREAKFAST - Nov. 7
Plan to join WPPC's Prayer Ministry for the annual Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, November 7th at 9 A.M.  We are excited that Mark Koenig, Director of the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations, has agreed to address us on "Following Jesus in a Violent World."  A hot breakfast will be served.  The suggested donation is $10, but all who are unable to make a donation are encouraged to join us.  So, please invite family, friends and acquaintances to attend.  If you have any particular food allergies or requirements, please leave a message at the church or contact one of the Prayer Ministers.

BIBLIODRAMA ON THE BOOK OF RUTH - Nov. 8
"I will never read the Bible the same way again." That's what people often say after experiencing Bibliodrama, a combination of a close reading of the biblical text with searching, imaginative questions by a trained leader. It is guaranteed you will learn more about yourself in the process.  After worship on Nov. 8 we are pleased to welcome Elizabeth Wind to lead this special program.

CAN WE BAN PLASTIC BAGS IN WESTCHESTER? - Nov. 15
The average life of a single-use plastic bag, the kind you get in grocery and retail stores, is twelve minutes. Not easily recyclable, these bags often end up as litter, harm wildlife, clog storm drains and persist in the environment. Plastic lasts forever! After worship, Anne Bobroff-Hajal will tell us about pending legislation to ban single-use bags in our county, what it would and would not include, and how it will affect our common life.
