It's been a good few days in my studio, where I have been able to putter just a bit, or at least sew less frantically than the last several weeks. I was super thrilled to finish "Mod Mood," an improv collaboration quilt with Bee Sewcial. If you missed seeing it, peek here, and know you can always sew alongside us by using the hashtag #inspiredbybeesewcial on Instagram.
How much effort do you put into your quilt photoshoots? I've been collecting photos of some I really like - including several of my own - in a Photoshoots pin board. Feel free to let me know about any you've done that you're especially pleased with.
Have you seen The Quilter's Planner coming from Stephanie/Late Night Quilter? It has lots of bonus features in addition to the typical calendars and such. Tempting....
ROUND-UP
I couldn't resist focusing on medallion quilts in the newsletter this week, as my friends and I are trying to finish up our own, and I found several to inspire us all!
Janice/Better Off Thread made her bright and beautiful Right Round Medallion, and in addition to a "sort of tutorial' on her blog, shares links to a couple of perfect options for the center medallion. [betteroffthread]
Felice/Sew Scatterbrained also shares a tutorial for her lovely Solstice Medallion Quilt, so named because "it reminds [her] of our solar system with the sun at the center", accentuated with her delightful spiral quilting. Check out the Instagram hashtag #solsticemedallion and see more sunny medallions. [iamlunasol]
I had the pleasure of spending the evening with the Tacoma Modern Quilt Guild last week, talking all about the improv process. While sharing several of my improv quilts, someone asked if I could describe quickly how Matched Binding works. I did, but you can also find a tutorial for the easy peasy straight matched binding here, and the slightly trickier angled matched binding here.
