Canada elected a liberal, pro-LGBTIQ government Monday, including 6 openly LGBT members of Parliament and the first Prime Minister to have marched in a Pride Parade; Justin Trudeau considers LGBTIQ rights a core tenet of his new administration.

Arrests continue in Uganda, where authorities accused an allegedly gay male for having sexual relations. Meanwhile, Kenya's President said his country has more pressing issues than LGBT rights.

Sadly, prominent African LGBT activist and Cameroon native Joël Nana passed away Friday due to illness.

The Financial Times published this year's list of top 100 OUTStanding LGBT as well as top allies.

Facing pressure from opposite-sex domestic partners, the US State Department has phased out benefits for unmarried same-sex couples.

Due to continued violent attacks against transgender people, Senator Al Franken (MN) has pressed the Department of Justice on its efforts to investigate, prosecute and record hate crimes.
