The Social Circus recognition program is now officially open to applications!
We are pleased to announce that the programs who piloted this process, Circus Harmony, Prescott Circus Theatre, Trenton Circus Squad, and Wise Fool, are the first recognized U.S. Social Circus Programs, and that Jessica Hentoff and Zoe Brookes are the first recognized Social Circus Trainers/Consultants. Please read on and consider applying to join these vanguard programs and trainer/consultants!
This program is designed to help grow the social circus sector, attract more funders and show them the high quality social circus work that is being done in the U.S. We want to establish a solid base of programs that are doing social circus work, and help others start and grow. Here is a document outlining the criteria for recognition of U.S. social circus programs, and here are the currently recognized programs.
If you are responsible for an ACE institutional member circus program and would like to apply for recognition, please complete this form, and email it to socialcircus@americancircuseducators.org.
We are also accepting applications for recognition from Social Circus Trainers/Consultants whose services have been found helpful by recognized Social Circus Programs. This database is intended to help U.S. social circus programs find experienced trainers and consultants to support program capacity building.
All submitted applications will be reviewed confidentially by a committee of the Social Circus Initiative. We will inform applicants whether they have been approved for recognition. If an applicant does not receive recognition initially, they may request written or verbal feedback on their application, and may re-apply after 12 months.
Applications received by December 15, 2015 will be notified by January 31, 2016. This initial group will be listed in any materials that we develop for fundraising purposes next year, so there is an incentive to apply early.
Applications received by March 15, 2016 will be notified by April 30, 2016
Applications received by June 15, 2016 will be notified by July 31, 2016
Applications received by September 15, 2016 will be notified by October 31, 2016.
