Notes from the Podium
by Tristan Arnold

Great work on the Haydn on Tuesday. We have two rehearsals before our November 8 concert, and I'm looking forward to hitting the stage to show all the work that you've done early in the season. As I said at the end of rehearsal, the fact that we didn't play them in rehearsal is all the more reason to look at them in your own practice time this week. We've made too much progress to let it atrophy.

Although it's hard for me to get my head out of the music, there are some important pieces we need to take care of:

Audience: Invite your friends and family through this facebook event, or let them know they can purchase tickets here.

Looking good: Identify the clothes and shoes (and black socks!) that you'll wear for the concert. Try on the shoes. It's much better to do the shopping now than looking for a department store that is open on Sunday mornings.

Sounding Good: Play along with a recording of the Mozart, Britten or Haydn to understand your part in context and to make sure you have everything up to tempo.

Mozart

Britten

Haydn

Happy practicing and see you Tuesday!

Dear beloved students and colleagues

Thank you for the beautiful send off on Tuesday. I feel so loved as I love all of you. Thank you for the cards and gifts! I am so touched by everything! Even though I will be far away in miles living in Japan, I am only an instant email away. Please keep in touch and don't be a stranger. If you have questions or want to chat about violin or life, I am happy to be there for you as best as I can. Thank you for these past years of beautiful music making!
