Volunteers make a huge difference at Inspired Teaching Demonstration Public Charter School! In recent days volunteers have accompanied classes on field trips, provided nutritious snacks for students, supported student projects in classrooms, made Kiss & Go a more efficient endeavor, and so much more! In this newsletter you willl encounter additional opportunities to volunteer, and we’re hoping you will answer the call.
Thanks much,

News and Announcements
Strategic Planning Process Continues
The Strategic Planning Committee had a successful kickoff event last week, with both parents and school staff in attendance. About 40 parents also participated in roundtable discussions, sharing their views on a range of issues. The Committee is considering providing additional opportunities for family input. In the meantime, parents are encouraged to share thoughts by sending email to
strategicplanning@inspiredteachingschool.org
The Committee is looking closely at several broad areas including our school community, our programs and our partnerships. Please take this opportunity to share your thoughts, ideas, and questions.
Inspired Teacher’s Project Funded by Chevron
On Monday, October 19th, DonorsChoose.org founder Charles Best hosted an event focusing on innovative STEM projects. Teachers from all 50 states and the District of Columbia called-into the event via phone. Inspired Teacher Jodi Ash participated in this event, having been selected to represent the District of Columbia. We were thrilled when Chevron announced that they were funding Jodi’s project, along with others represented at the event. Thanks to Ms. Ash, Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS will receive a 3D printer to integrate into the Middle School science curriculum!
Girls Who Code
Our Middle School has been accepted for the Girls Who Code Program. This program teaches computer science to 6th – 12th grade girls and includes direct instruction, field trips, speakers and opportunities to engage with the local tech community. We need a volunteer instructor and hope you will consider volunteering or connecting us with a volunteer who will coach the Inspired Teaching Demonstration Public Charter School, Middle School Girls Who Code Club. There is training and access to great resources for our students. Please contact
Latisha Coleman, Middle School Principal, for more information and/or to volunteer,

Fall Festival!
It is time for our celebration of fall! The Inspired Families Association’s annual Fall Festival is this Saturday, October 24th from 10:00am until 2:00pm. October 24th is Make a Difference Day, a national day of community service. The first hour of our Fall Festival, 10:00-11:00am, will be devoted to service projects. You and your students can join in helping to tidy the area around the school, sorting books, and sharing in other community service projects. There is lots of fun planned for the day, including pumpkin painting and carving, relay races, face painting, a costume photo booth, and much more. Please plan to join in and consider volunteering to help ensure the success of the event.
