Winter 2015

Although we may appear to have been quiet over the last few months, the team have been working away in the background to bring you a new improved network and some exciting opportunities.

Digital Stories - The Life of a Personal Assistant

We are also in the process of making a DVD that will promote Self Directed Support. Do you know anyone who would make a great case study or would like to take part yourself? We will be including real case studies as part of the DVD and are interested in finding people who would be willing to be filmed in their SDS role and also giving an account of their experience as a Personal Assistant. PA employers who would like to tell their story of how SDS has changed their care experience and their quality of life would also be most welcome.

Just let us know on here or by ringing 01563 522551 we will be delighted to hear from you.

Website www.panetworkscotland.org.uk

We are planning some fairly exciting changes for the website to include interactive forums where you can talk to other PA's; update of news items to include regional as well as more general items and a regular source of up-to-date info relevant to your roles.

Please have a look at the website now as we have been adding news items with lots of great sources of information for you.  Any feedback is greatly received and if you feel there is something we should be adding please get in touch.

Training for PA's

Following the successful run of First Aid Training during March to September and looking at the results of the PA Survey, we are planning to run additional training sessions across Scotland.  The PA Survey indicated that there was a strong need for:
  • Basic IT Skills - to include an element of Social Media use
  • Communication Skills - to include confidence building, confident care plans and dealing with relationships
We are currently scheduling training in various areas for the coming months and will be in touch directly once dates and venues are agreed. Training will be free of charge to PA's and we encourage you and your colleagues to register on the website to be kept updated.
That's all for now folks!  Please continue to contact us with your queries, visit the website, Facebook and Twitter pages and tell your friends and colleagues.

Speak to you soon!
