THE EDGE OF OPPORTUNITY

Town Hall’s historic home turns 100 next year—and more people have passed through these doors in its 16 years as Town Hall than in the preceding 83. It's time for a top-to-bottom revitalization of this iconic place.

The transformation of our nationally landmarked, century-old home promises a physical space for Seattleites to gather around issues and ideas for the next 100 years. And it will deliver expanded opportunities for engagement—from a digital stage to a bar and commons just inside Town Hall’s new, west-facing entrance.

Managed by Point32, designed by architects Weinstein A|U and acousticians Jaffe Holden, and executed by Sellen Construction, it is more than the restoration of a building; it is a leap into the community of our future.

WHAT’S IN STORE:

Major performance upgrades:

  • Dramatic acoustic enhancements
  • New lighting and sound systems
  • Complete sound isolation between spaces
  • Improved backstage facilities for performers

Robust new technical capacities:

  • Film screenings
  • Amplified concerts
  • TED-style talks
  • Livestream/broadcast capabilities

Structural improvements

  • Seismic stabilization
  • New roof with a restored copper dome
  • Energy-efficient heating and cooling systems
  • New restrooms on every level
  • Large, modern elevator
  • Full ADA accessibility

Every year Town Hall presents upwards of 450 events. Together with over 75 partner organizations, we reach more than 100,000 people from across our diverse community.
