THE RAMBLIN' SOCIAL WORKER

"The Ramblin' Social Worker" Remains!

Last month, we asked you to submit entries to officially name the monthly newsletter. Although we received some great submissions, the people have spoken and "The Ramblin' Social Worker", submitted by a non-committee student, was chosen as THE favorite. Other submissions included "The Agent of Change", which will be used to highlight the exemplary work of students and staff in the community and/or on campus and "Social Workin' It", which will be used to include job and career related information and postings, among more. Thank you to those who submitted name ideas. We love your input!

In this section every month, we'd like to take some time to give you news bites to keep you apprised of events and happenings. For example, as of January 2016, the School of Social Work will be moving from Lewis Towers on the WTC to Maguire Hall. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

We wish to thank those students and faculty that recently attended "Coffee With the Dean".  We look forward to the next meet-up and encourage everyone to attend. Additionally, a big thank you to Craig Perri and Professors Marcia Spira and Michael Dentato for their contributions to Field Instructor trainings.

Happy reading!

ANNOUNCEMENTS & UPCOMING EVENTS
From Father Overbeck:

Java with the Jesuit:
Weekday mornings (except Thursday) at the State and Pearson Starbucks (not the one on Chicago), from 6:30 - 8:30 AM, your chaplain sips coffee and talks with students, faculty, staff, administrators, alums, and neighbors. Sometimes folks stop by spontaneously; other times people ask if we can talk over coffee on a specific date and at a specific time. If early mornings are not your "cup of tea," you can call Fr. Overbeck at (312) 915-7186 or email him at joverb@luc.edu to schedule a time that works better. Your chaplain also drinks libations other than coffee, if you prefer.

Muslim Prayer Space: The SouthWest corner of the 9th floor of Corboy Law Center has been set aside as a play for Loyola Muslims' daily prayer.

Young Adult Mass: Every Sunday when classes are in session (i.e. not over holiday breaks), there is a Young Adult Mass at St. James Chapel (inside Quigley center, corner of Pearson and Rush; across from the School of Social Work). Mass is at 7:00 PM. The last Mass this semester will be December 13. The first one following the semester break will be January 17.
