ISG in Sandpoint
ISG staff Deanna, Elaine and Scot each presented at the Idaho Chapter of the American Planning Association’s annual conference in Sandpoint in early October, and our reception/fundraiser at the Belwood 301 Building was a big success. ISG board members Steve Lockwood and Michelle Groenevelt were there and friend Robert Liberty gave a great talk about the importance of the work that we’re doing. At the end Robert pulled out a credit card and asked everyone to join him in donating; in all we raised nearly $1100 that night! Thank you, Robert, and everyone who donated!

Staff Notes
While in Sandpoint Elaine was presented with the Leadership Award of the American Planning Association’s Idaho chapter before an appreciative crowd at its award ceremony on Oct. 7. The Leadership award recognizes people who demonstrate exceptional leadership and commitment to good planning and
"making great communities happen" through service to their community, region, or the state.
Shortly after that Elaine was elected president of the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations, a nonprofit, membership organization serving metropolitan planning organizations nationwide. She represents Boise on the board of COMPASS, the region’s MPO, and formerly was AMPO’s vice-president.
To cap off a busy fall, Elaine was re-elected in November to the Boise City Council, where she has served since 2003 as a staunch advocate for smart growth principles. Congratulations, Elaine! Her local and national political expertise is a huge benefit for ISG.

Public Input Needed for Capitol Boulevard Project
ACHD is taking public input on Capitol Boulevard from the Depot to the future Royal Blvd intersection. Whether you use Capitol regularly or simply want to encourage ACHD to make walking and biking safer, please go online and take their survey or send them comments. The comment period closes November 18th.

Other News
- Ada County recently initiated Ada County 2025, a collaborative, joint planning process to update the Ada County Comprehensive Plan (last updated in 2007) and to develop a new Strategic Business Plan. Idaho Smart Growth has been invited to be part of the process. To learn more or submit your input, go to http://adacounty2025.com/
- We are happy to share the news that David Guiotto, volunteer and friend of Idaho Smart Growth, is the newest staff member at Idaho Walk Bike Alliance. David is a strong proponent of making Idaho more walkable and bikeable. We are excited for him to join forces with IWBA. Congratulations, David!
