North Glenora's social calendar is packed this month!

Blanket Exercise

Tuesday, Nov 3rd from 7-9 pm

This event is a tool that literally walks participants through the history of relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in Canada.  It helps participants understand why reconciliation is needed and how to take steps toward reconciliation and new relationships.  Given our community's recent events with the Metis Capital Housing Corporation, this is very timely for us.

For more information of the Blanket Exercise, visit http://kairosblanketexercise.org/

Don't forget to bring a blanket.

Rink Builders Needed

We need volunteer support to build our outdoor rink and maintain it as the cooler weather approaches.

Once we get enough consistent cool weather to start our building of the rink we will get underway! There is a rink building course offered by the city for volunteers to attend on December 4th. Save that date and contact Guy at ngcl.sports@gmail.com if you are interested in helping to build our rink, become part of the maintenance team, or both!

This team of volunteers is an integral part of our winter programs so sign up to help today.

Outdoor Skating Program

Watch for this program returning our outdoor rink this winter as well. Please contact Guy Ambrosio at ngcl.sports@gmail.com if you are interested in taking part in this once our rink is up an running. More details to follow in future newsletters and to those who request to be informed as the program takes shape!

Pond Hockey

We are gearing up for our second season of Pond Hockey in North Glenora. Last year the program ran on Thursday evenings between Late January and Early March (once our rink was built up and the weather was consistently cold enough.) The program worked well for children ages 5-10 last year, with no experience in the sport required. This program is designed to encourage initiation and fun in the game of hockey.

We had 20 kids participate last year (on first come first registered), and we hope to increase the amount of participants by a small amount. There are many details we will be ironing out over the next few weeks but our plan will be to open up registration online on our website mid to late November. If you are interested in having your child participate in this program or would like to volunteer as a coach please contact Guy Ambrosio at ngcl.sports@gmail.com.
