NEW THURSDAY ART MARKET BEGINS NOV. 5

The Tannery Arts Center, Santa Cruz County’s first-in-the-nation art community that provides a sustainable, accessible and vibrant home for the arts in Santa Cruz County, will host a new year-round Thursday Art Market. The market take place each week from 3-6 p.m. beginning Thursday, Nov. 5.

Thursday Art Market, held rain or shine in the Tannery Courtyard, will feature live music, artist demonstrations, loft artists and guest chefs with rotating menus. The first Thursday Art Market will feature live music from Wyreless Lovebird, an art demonstration by Crystal Cristallo and food from chef Jonathan Parvis' Dead Cow BBQ (vegetarian options available). Jim Curas will be the featured Loft Artist.

“Thursday Art Market provides a great way for artists to showcase their work and interact with the public,” said Ann Hazels, owner of Radius Gallery and longtime representative of the Tannery community. “Every week you will see your favorites and find something new. It’ll be a great time to hear local bands, eat amazing food and soak up the art scene. The Tannery is thriving and I am so thrilled to be part of it at Radius.”

The adjacent Working Studios at the Tannery Arts Center will be open to visitors. Located in two historic buildings covering 25,000 square feet, the Working Studios serve as the headquarters to professional artists, educators and businesses, including five3genomics, JoyLabz, a frame shop and 27 studios dedicated to all art disciplines. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the buildings. Studios open will include Apricity Gallery, Camp Tannery Arts, Elemental Art Studios, Jewelry Toolery, Middlearth Editions PATT and Radius Gallery. The Tannery World Dance & Cultural Center, located in the Working Studios, also will be open.
