Truckee Meadows Water Authority Notice of Public Open House Meetings Regarding the 2016-2035 Water Resource Plan: Participate in the Process.

TMWA is in the process of preparing a draft water resource plan. The purpose of the 2016-2035 Water Resource Plan is to review, update and/or revise TMWA’s 2010- 2030 Water Resource Plan.

As part of the update process, the following workshops and meetings are scheduled to collect comments and input from our customers before the final plan is presented to the TMWA Board of Directors:

Monday, November 9, 2015 at 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Spanish Springs Library at Lazy 5 Regional Park - 7100 Pyramid Lake Highway, Spanish Springs

Monday, November 16 at 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Truckee Meadows Water Authority - 1355 Capital Blvd., Reno

Tuesday, November 17 at 5:30-7:00 p.m.
O’Brien Middle School - 10500 Stead Blvd., Reno

Wednesday, November 18 at 5:30-7:00 p.m.
South Valleys Library – 15650 Wedge Pkwy, Reno

Wednesday, December 9 at 5:30-7:00 p.m.
McKinley Arts & Culture Center – 925 Riverside Dr., Reno

You are invited to drop in to any open house listed above and talk one-on-one with TMWA staff members who will discuss the plan update and answer any questions you may have. Your comments and input will be collected and presented to the TMWA Board of Directors at a future meeting.

The TMWA 2016-2035 Water Resource Plan evaluates the present state of water resources available to TMWA to meet customer water demands. Included in the update are population and water demand forecasts. The plan reflects changed conditions in planning due to the consolidation of Washoe County Department of Water Resources and South Truckee Meadows General Improvement District into TMWA and incorporates the enhanced upstream storage opportunities from the soon-to-be-implemented Truckee River Operating Agreement (TROA).

Also included will be current and proposed conservation methods. Significant portions of this plan will be incorporated into the Western Regional Water Commission’s upcoming update to the Regional Water Management Plan. You are encouraged to attend and provide comment, which may be incorporated into the final plan.

Be Prepared For the Colder Temperatures And Protect Your Home

Remember, it's the time of the year when the weather can catch you off guard. As temperatures drop, don’t forget to protect your pipes from freezing, and avoid the expense and trouble of frozen water lines. It's also a great time to locate your master water shutoff valve. If a pipe bursts anywhere in the house, this valve turns off all water and may save your home from water damage. Learn how to find your master valve and how to winterize your home here on TMWA’s website: How to Winterize Your Home.

You Can Also Attend a Winterization Workshop!

TMWA experts will walk you through the winterization process step by step in these one-hour educational sessions.

If you can't make it to one of our workshops, check out this brief how-to video. It shows how to get your home ready for the cold months by properly shutting down your sprinkler system, disconnecting hoses and protecting plumbing from low temperatures.
