Introduction to Zeban Audio

Zeban Audio is a brand new online store for professional audio products and technology.

This very first newsletter is the beginning of a new adventure as we work with a number of suppliers to bring you a great range of products.

All products are sourced either directly from manufacturers, or through the official distribution channels. No grey imports will be offered in this store.

As you browse the available products, you'll notice that it is by no means yet a complete offering. It is still very much a "work in progress".

The first manufacturer we have begun to work with is Acoustic Technologies located at Seventeen Mile Rocks in Brisbane. AT is a major manufacturer of professional loudspeaker systems in Australia. The catalogue of solutions is quite astounding and ranges from miniature speakers for discrete installation applications, right through to complete concert sound systems with flown and stacked line arrays.

Zeban Audio is proud to offer the range of Acoustic Technologies products in our online store.

ACME Motown D.I. WB-3 - the sound of Motown

ACME Motown D.I. WB-3 is inspired by the original Motown “direct box”, which was featured in almost every Motown recording in the 60’s and 70’s.

ACME Motown D.I. WB-3 features transformers painstakingly reproduced to exactly replicate those used in the original version of this Direct Box. ACME Audio, in an effort to perfectly replicate the quality and sound of the original Motown DI, tracked down the original manufacturer of the coveted transformer and enlisted them to start making them again after 35 years. As a result, the Motown D.I.WB-3 is built to the exact specs with the same materials as the originals, and exhibits the same audio character and lack of low frequency magnetic saturation that sets it apart from similar devices.

ACME Motown D.I. WB-3 is hand crafted in Detroit and produced in limited quantity.

JamHub rehearsal systems / Extreme Isolation headphones

JamHub silent rehearsal systems are perfect for so many groups: electronic instruments, vocalists, school music classes, etc, etc.

Three different systems are available: JamHub Bedroom is designed for 5 players; JamHub GreenRoom accommodates 7 players; and, JamHub TourBus includes metronome and multitrack recording system along with its seven mixer channels.

Primacoustic London 12 room kit - installations

Primacoustic London 12 room kit is an extremely versatile bundle of acoustic panels that can be used in a variety of applications. In this post, I am writing about two installations that I have been involved in specifying and installing in recent years.

The first installation was within the new Coomera campus of the Gold Coast College of TAFE.

The second was in a small conference room within the Little Tokyo Two co-working space in Spring Hill, Brisbane.

Electro-Voice RE320 - dynamic microphone

Electro-Voice RE320 is a professional-grade dynamic microphone for capturing a wide variety of vocal and instrument sources. Unparalleled detail, dynamic response and pleasing natural tone.

The RE320 has been available for 4-5 years now and has proven to be an enormously popular update of the famous RE20 - with some significant improvements. It is one of those dynamic mics that can truly be called a general purpose vocal and instrument mic - but it has become one of the real "go-to" mics for capturing the sound of a kick drum.

Once the switchable filter for kick drum micing is engaged, this mic needs no extra processing to capture the punchy sound of a kick drum.
