Facebook Etiquette
Facebook, the platform that we need to use consistently at the same time as sparingly to yeild its greatest use.

Engagement is STILL Down
So engagement is still down….and Facebook is not going anywhere….so that means your business still must maintain a presence there.  So let’s make the best of it.  We published this advice about a year ago when engagement dropped so dramatically the first time.  We thought it would be good to share it with you again, because just like an old recipe sometimes you need a little review.

Action #1
Optimize your FB Page:  Look at it with new eyes.

Just like our hairstyles and personal tastes our online profiles occasionally need review.  What you created five years ago might not hold true today.   If a visitor comes to your FB page today, not knowing anything about your business, what will they take away?
  • Contact Information correct and complete?
  • What the heck are you selling?  Don’t miss out on this opportunity to help someone learn more about your products! There is a short, long and company overview to cover this in…..NO EXCUSES!
  • Who is behind the Biz? There is an owner spot for your shining face…use it.
  • Make sure your phone # and website are listed, if no website then list your email.
Action #2
Make sure your relationship is solid with your fans = consistent engagement
  • Revisit the past 10 posts and see for yourself if it would make you wan to LIKE, COMMENT or SHARE.  In other words this is your chance to make a good impression, are you?
  • How often do you post?
    • Post 1-3 times per day – these posts consisting of shares, self promoting posts and related content shares – like a related article
Action #3
Increase engagement on your page and if you are not already doing so, begin building your email list through your page.
Everyone likes FREE STUFF! Come up with 5 giveaway options that you think will be valuable to your audience, and then ask your fans to help you decide best giveaway opportunity.   This giveaway does NOT need to be a super expensive item it just needs to give value to your audience.  Here are some ideas:
  • Checklists (PDF)
  • Resource Guides
  • Recipes
  • Worksheets
Now is a great opportunity to both share value with your audience and ask for an email in exchange for this valuable gift you are giving.  For more info on building your email list, watch your inbox.

Don’t forget:  To build trust and establish a relationship you must always strive to provide what your target audience is seeking.  Visibility grows with frequency, regularity and engagement.
