Introducing the Ripple Effect Steering Group
Exciting progress continues to be made in the development of the Ripple Effect and we have recently had our first Steering Group meeting. The members of the Ripple Effect Steering Group bring a combined experience of farming, health and wellbeing, digital design and research. There is a strong representation across the group of people who have been personally effected by suicide. The members of our Steering Group include:
- Farmer Representatives: Maria Parente (VIC), NickShady (VIC), Ross Romeo (QLD), Martin Butler (VIC), Steve Junghenn (VIC/QLD), Karen Seiler (QLD) and Katrina Myers (NSW)
- Digital Design Representative: Kylie Robertson
- Mental Health Representative: Tristan Brumby-Rendell
- Management Group: Susan Brumby, Alison Fairleigh, Sam Haren, Dan Koerner, Tom Whitty and Alison Kennedy

Calling for expressions of interest from Community Champions
We are seeking expressions of interest from community members who are keen to learn more about the Ripple Effect website and then be committed to spreading the word about the Ripple Effect throughout their networks. Out and about starting the ripple
Members of the Ripple Effect Steering Group have been out and about a lot during the last two months, talking about the need for, and the development of, the Ripple Effect. Katrina and Nick both featured on ABC Rural Radio. The Ripple Effect has also featured in numerous print media articles. Alison K gave a presentation about the Ripple Effect at the Rural and Remote Mental Health Symposium in Creswick. The media and community interest about the Ripple Effect is effectively starting the positive ripple of reducing stigma by starting the conversation about rural suicide.
