Memorial Service for Pat Christensen. Patricia Christensen, a beloved member of Abiding Grace Lutheran Church, died in the faith on All Saints Day, Sunday, November 1, 2015. She was at home surrounded by family and in hospice care at the time. Please hold her husband, Carl, and all her family in prayer for strength and comfort. A Memorial Service has been planned at Abiding Grace Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 7, at 10:30 a.m. Members of the choir who wish to participate in the anthem are invited to rehearse in the music room at 9:45 a.m. Also, if you feel so inclined, during the service there will be an opportunity to share a remembrance. Memorial donations may be made to Abiding Grace Lutheran Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (michaeljfox.org). "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord" (Rev. 14:13).
Thanksgiving food drive. Again this year we will be collecting food for the Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry. The pantry supports the Irving area and is a ministry of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irving. Pick up an empty baskets at church along with a list of suggested items. Please select from the list (all nonperishable) and return the filled baskets to church by Sunday, November 15. They will be delivered to the pantry on Thursday, November 19, at 10:00 a.m. (delivery volunteers will be needed).

We are also invited to help serve at Good Shepherd's annual community Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, November 21. Over 300 neighbors are served at the dinner each year. Help is needed between 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Pastor Brad Carroll of Good Shepherd says, "“We are all thankful that our sisters and brothers at Abiding Grace are so generous in helping to stock the food pantry with so many wonderful gifts as well as partnering with us for the community Thanksgiving meal. With the increased demand I seriously doubt we could do it without you all.”

Good Shepherd is located at 2620 West Grauwyler Road in Irving, about a mile southeast of Irving Mall.
Briarwood Advent retreat. Games, songs, and s-mores. Fourth, fifth and sixth graders are invited to attend the Advent Retreat at Briarwood Retreat Center on December 5-6. Come to the home of Marjorie Suchocki where we will watch the film (120 minutes), share a soup supper and discuss. Surely we will resolve the issues together, won't we? RSVP to Marjorie if you wish to attend (contact information published in the church directory).
MCCC senior visits. This November Abiding Grace is partnering with Mid Cities Care Corps to help bring some Thanksgiving cheer to seniors in the area! To do this, Erin Perkins and Taylor Skoglund invite everyone to stick around after church on Sunday, November 15, to make a craft to deliver to a senior neighbor and to visit with them. If you’re feeling adventurous, you’re also invited to bring a pie to share with whomever you visit. To participate please email Taylor by Sunday, November 8.
