A Message from The President

October 29, 2015                       Volume 3 No. 67

NiRA Executive Board of Directors had taken the bold initiatives to rebrand and project .ng. Knowing that appearances and perception are very important in our line of business, we have raised the profile of the .ng brand and galvanized the output of our mission and services at the NiRA Secretariat. I call on all to join in this effort to grow the number of .ng domain names. It is our National resource, our property, let us support and promote it. Let us adopt the .ng brand as our online Identity.

As part of our continuous business development strategy and being true to the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plans of youth empowerment, NiRA has introduced “.NG Scout (NGS)”.  The NGS will create awareness of the .ng identity for Nigerians and achieve growth in the usage and acquisition of .ng domain name. This would further create rapid economic growth and jobs through envisaged increase in the number of resellers, registrars, hosting companies, web designers/developers, app developers, etc.

Usefulness of Premium Domain Names to Online Brands

Considering the world economy at this present age, business owners strive to promote their brands and maximize profit. They engage in value based product development as they prefer to invest on products that will yield great and positive results, regardless of the initial cost. The .NG Premium domain names have proven to be worthwhile investment for proper and adequate online branding.

Premium domain names are domain names that can be valued way above the normal registration fee. This is domain name investing. Many speculators or ‘domainers’ invest their time researching and their money buying premium domain names that are already registered and owned by someone or by registry operator but could be available for sale. These names include common words or search terms which can give your business that unique and easy-to-remember identity on cyber space. Some examples of these names are: beauty.ng, apply.ng, commercial.ng, haircut.ng, shop.ng etc. They are more expensive than a normal domain name at the second level.
