Just one week from now, Art San Diego will open its doors to thousands of art lovers and collectors from around the world. Taking place for the seventh time, this year's show is a highlight of the much-anticipated Balboa Park Centennial Celebration and is an event not to be missed. From interactive installations to Art Talks, afterparties, and more, Art San Diego has exciting offerings for everyone.
A staple of Art San Diego is its specially curated programming, including Art Labs, San Diego Art Prize, the LaunchPad Program, and the Spotlight Artist Program—the last of which showcases site-specific solo exhibitions from cutting-edge artists. Let's check out this year's Spotlight Artists!
TAMARA DE LEMPICKA—BOOTH 617
One of the world's best-selling female painters, the late Tamara de Lempicka is renowned for her sensual take on the hard angles of cubism. The fashionable Polish painter epitomized the glamour of life in Paris in her work, making her a leading representative of the distinctive Art Deco style.
MARTA WILEY—BOOTH 404
Prolific and popular, Marta Wiley strikes a gorgeous balance between classical and contemporary in her work. Influenced greatly by the Old Masters, Wiley imbues her paintings with their meticulous, time-honored techniques, yet brings them new life and unique flavor with her own modern stylings.
VALERIE OSTENAK—BOOTH 411
Passion. Elegance. Innovation. These three words embody the work of Valerie Ostenak, an award-winning art jeweler who creates sculptural pieces from sterling silver and mild steel. Reflecting the joy she feels for the beauty in the world around her, each piece of Ostenak's jewelry tells a story.
BRETT LETHBRIDGE—BOOTH 413
Award-winning Australian artist Brett Lethbridge channels his boundless energy into creating masterfully evocative drawings and sumptuous paintings that burst with rich texture, color, and detail. An international exhibitor, he returned to Australia in 2004 to open Lethbridge Gallery.
